BAM provides assistance to Pabuk-affected customers by easing repayment

BAM officers visited flood-affected customers in several provinces of southern Thailand to acknowledge problems and assess the situation in order to provide assistance. The company specified that it was ready to consider providing assistance on a case-by-case basis, depending on how much each debtor has been affected.

Mr. Somporn Moonsrikaew, the President of Bangkok Commercial Asset Management Public Company Limited or BAM revealed the assistance given to customers suffering from flooding in the southern region which was a result of tropical storm Pabuk by stating that he has now instructed BAM’s offices in southern region to visit affected customers in order to acknowledge problems that face both debt-restructuring customers and customers who have purchased BAM’s NPAs on the installment plan and to determine how much they have been affected. He also urged officers to send data, collected from their visits, to the headquarters to further assess the situation and to provide assistance to BAM's customers urgently. If any customer experiences problems from the phenomenon, the company will consider easing repayment on a case-by-case basis in order to alleviate suffering.

"BAM is concerned about customers and communities in flood-affected areas, so southern offices in the areas have been ordered to urgently provide initial assistance, and other requests for assistance can also be sent to the headquarters so that suffering can be alleviated,” said Mr. Somporn. “In addition to providing assistance to customers, BAM instructed the regional offices to consider helping affected communities by donating necessary items and drinking water to temporary shelters," he said.

The President of BAM further stated that regarding the damage that may occur to BAM's NPAs in the flood-affected area, after making initial inspection, only minor damage has been discovered as BAM's properties for sale in the affected provinces are mainly vacant plots of land.
